Zenit St. Petersburg 0-0 Glasgow Rangers UEFA Cup Final Half-Time UpdateSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Wed, 2008-05-14 19:40.
Zenit St. Petersburg are currently 0-0 at half-time against Glasgow Rangers in the UEFA Cup Final at The City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday despite Dick Advocaat's team being in command throughout the first period of the match. FC Zenit St. Petersburg are hoping to claim their first European trophy and face a Glasgow Rangers side eager to win their first European trophy since beating FC Dinamo Moscow 3-2 in Barcelona to win the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1971/72. Zenit started the first-half the team in complete command, with Fatih Tekke, Radek Shirl and, more especially, Konstantin Zyrianov all forcing Neil Alexander into saves. Rangers were restricted to one shot off-target from Steven Whittaker eight minutes before the break and a free-kick that failed to get through the Zenit wall as Rangers had a late flourish in the first-half. Zenit had a late penalty shout in the last minute of the half when a cross hit Kirk Broadfoot on the defenders outstretched arm, but the referee waved away the calls for a sopt-kick. The game went into half-time 0-0, but with the Russian side well in control.
